The tragic earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010 killed more than 250,000 people and 300,000 were injured. More than 300,000 buildings were destroyed. The epicenter was about 16 miles west of Port-au-Prince, the capital.
Grace at Fort Clarke United Methodist Church and Passage Family Church of Gainesville come together to support the community of Petit-Goave.
This town is located west of Port-au-Prince. Thousands of people were killed and 60% of their structures destroyed. Only one missionary was there in this community to provide outside support. These churches have committed to a long-term effort to provide resources for the Mission. In belief that God has prepared them for the task they plan to help rebuild this part of Haiti and share God’s love.
They have made several trips and delivered thousands of pounds of goods to the community. The plan is in place for a five-year mission effort. There will be several programs set up to provide educational support, medical support, business support, discipleship and training.
